Returning Player

I started this game about 3 or so years back and I remember the pay to win aspects of this game were horrendous. Here I am again though, making a new account and starting fresh on Allods. I understand that the cash shop is not nearly as bad as it used to be and items are no longer cursed on death and things such as that. I also don't intend to spend much if any money on this game at present, but my question is what class has the highest skill cap these days? And by that I mean which class can fight someone who is paying a lot for their gear but still win and overcome them with sheer skill in a typical 1v1 or group setting with adequate f2p gear? I don't care/want the class to be an easy 1 2 3 button class, the higher the skill cap the better. If it matters, what race is best for said class as well?

Wow bruh u gon have to hack the game for all of that XD, i would say just come back to the game with your old account if u wanna play and no spend as much money and time lvling. Gearing is no that bad just need alot of time for the game to see progress. Hopefully u have some good stuff in your old account that somehow can help you out a bit. Just my opinion.

I would do that but I plan on playing with my gf and she's never played before so a new account is much more appealing. So basically I wanna play the class with the highest skill cap to give me the greatest chance (even if it's slim) to beat p2w players.

Just forget about 1vs1... You can do any long range character with specialised support build so you can save up some golds for better runes (6,6,6 at least) and you won't be totaly useless.
But now think about lvling build. I always recommend to make r2 at every talent to be most universal and then choose rubies which increases damage. It's easy and funny. Something like this:

silly things like cursed items on death and incense-dmgbuff are long gone, money is only a booster now, so you can get things faster/instant if you have only little time to play or if you are not a patient player

due to gold / BC exchange you can get anything for free, its just a matter of time (LONG time if you want certain things- but again- totally free)

about class, summoner is the most "universal" class i guess, but there is so much variety among the classes you really should take a look yourself, maybe play every class till level 10 or something

regardig "Universal-builds" (those who can do everything but nothing good) it would be critical to take all rubies which grat you a special skill, otherwise your build will no longer be universal - ofc this means less dmg
so as psi loop of time and the sharp incursion alsong with mindfire for example, without them it certainly is NOT an universal build since these skills are strongly pvprelated

but for a new player it seems almost impossbile to know what is important / special skill etc... so rather just make a levleng-build (pve dps + survivability) and once max level respec with the free respec you get then to pure pve or pure pvp, depending on what you desire

I strongly recommend you to use your old account or at least to take a look at what you got there. You can start over with any class you want in your old account so its not a problem.

check your old accounts for costumes, some old rare costumes are selling for outrages prices (like 100k-200K).
even if it was bound to you I think there was a patch few years ago that unbound it.
